Please write a short profile about yourself - I am 61 years old and have fished since I was 12. I started, as many do, with coarse fishing but found trout, first with worm, spinner and minnow when in my teens, graduating to the fly rod in my early twenties although I had been fascinated with fly tying even before I startes fishing. Having trained as an Auctioneer and Valuer I changed career course in my early thirties and became a river keeper, first on the Hampshire Avon on a mixed Salmon, Trout and Coarse fishing beat. I moved from there to Lakes in E. Sussex for a short time and then moved to the Derbyshire Wye where I was head river keeper for nearly 12 years.
My favourite fly fishing pattern. - I am best known for my Mayfly patterns which are designed around the various stages of the adult fly.
What other patterns and styles of flyfishing do you enjoy most. - Having worked on a dry fly stream for many years I prefer to fish for seatrout first and foremost, salmon on the fly, rough streams for trout and grayling or large wild still waters.
Is there a style of flytying you enjoy more than others! - My favourite form of flytying is actually fully dressed Salmon flies which I often tie in my fingers, th way I originally taught myself about 50 years ago.
What is your most favoured piece of flyfishing equipment? - When fishing small waters I like nothing better than to get the cane rod and silk line out. Nothing plays a fish like them. You are so much more in touch through a rod and line made of natural materials.
What type of flytying will you be tying at the show and are there any specific tying techniques you will be demonstrating at the show. - I will be concentrating on the flies I will be talking about in my Theatre Presentation.
What is your favourite piece of flytying equipment? - I like good quality tools. Buying cheap is not buying wise.
Many thanks Philip and we look forward to seeing you at the show.
