  • The Spring Flyfishing Show -> Flytyer profile - Jens Pilgaard.

Jens Pilgaard - Click on fly images for a closer look !

Please write a short profile about yourself - Born 1954 in Denmark. I sell feathers for flytying all over the world and make handforged knives and swords etc, for a living plus teaching people in the above skills . I have been running flyfishing seminars every summer up in Norway for many years but now my summers are spent on fishing and Viking fairs. I have made my hobbies into my way of living and that definately is a good way of spending your life. Wont you agree! Tight lines Folks

  • My favourite fly fishing pattern. - My favorite pattern definately is my Origami wing. Its a super realistic fishing fly which you can learn how to tie step by step on www.flytying.dk or at the show.

What other patterns and styles of flyfishing do you enjoy most. - Hatching Nymph fishing for whitefish and grayling is a blast. I love these bright Norwegian summernights when the hatch is on.

Is there a style of flytying you enjoy more than others! - I realy enjoy Classic Salmon flies, when I can find the time to make them. And I also love fishing them. I know it is a bit exentric, but it sort of keeps things in perspective on what flyfishing is all about. "Beauty and tranquility".

What is your most memorable flyfishing moment? - A 700 gram brown trout spotted upstream and caught in first cast with a mayfly spinner in the most perfect surroundings in the Norwegian mountains on Trysil river.

What is your most favoured piece of flyfishing equipment? - My cofee-cup at the fireplace on the bank of the river, the moment before I enter the stream, watching the river and its life.

What type of flyfishing rod and reel do you use? - Preferably one that is thick at one end and thin at the other and a reel that will hold a line while carrying it from my car to the water.

What type of flytying will you be tying at the show and are there any specific tying techniques you will be demonstrating at the show. - I will be tying super realistic fishing flies, and the technique is called Origami wings. Its a versatile wing that will give you lots of fun to make and on top of that some deadly effective fishing flies.

What is your favourite piece of flytying equipment? - My hands.

Many thanks Jens and we look forward to seeing you at the show.

Jens is also giving a flytying class at the show. Click [here] to find out more and book your place.
