Andrew Herd - Angling historian, researcher and writer, Dr Andrew Herd, was born in 1959. Although he very nearly became a professional photographer, he qualified as a doctor at the Middlesex hospital, London, in 1982, after which he moved to Durham, where he works four days a week as a GP and moonlights as executive editor for Waterlog. Andrew has written extensively on the history of  fly fishing, his award-winning book, The Fly, the result of  a decade’s research, being about to appear in its third edition.  The website www.flyfishinghistory.com associated with the book is one of oldest and most visited angling sites of its kind. Andrew translated and wrote the accompanying text for the Medlar edition of  the first angling book ever published, The Treatyse of Fishing with an Angle.

Medlar titles by Andrew Herd include:

The Fly 2003
The Treatise of Fishing with an Angle
Spotty Herberts 2004
