![]() The “godfather” returns again this year. This time to explore fly casts that actually might help you reach areas one thought impossible; But done so, in a smooth and easy way. Charles Jardine ~ Casting demonstrations at the show... Jardine feels fly casting should be smooth and easy. Timing and understanding how the rod and line behave is as important as selecting the right fly or tippet or location. He will explore this and the importance of presentation in his displays at the Spring Fishing Show. ![]() But importantly, he also feels you should cast with a smile on your face and just enjoy it. So come and join the “grey haired man of fly casting” and have smooth, fly casting fun....and a joke or two. See Charles on the pro-indoor casting lake at 13.45 on Saturday and 11.45 on Sunday. Charles Jardine ~ Flytying demonstrations at the show... Key Materials. Charles takes a core of key materials – Pheasant tail, Hare, Peacock and Partridge and (with some modern infusions, of course) explores a world of variation for both river and still water from this reduced palette of materials – that does not mean to say he won’t bring the usual pantechnicon of stuff with him and happy to help anyone who might want to know how to use a certain materials. No frills fly tying! With flies designed to catch fish. See Charles in the flytying theatre at 10.30 am on both show days. Charles Jardine ~ Honoured with Prestigious Ambasssdor Award.. Few would argue that Charles Jardine is the pre-eminent fly fisherman of his generation and the Federation of Fly Fishers confirmed this by honouring him with the prestigious Ambassador Award. Writing, painting, illustration, public speaking, TV and radio and fly tying are just a few of Charles’s skills. That's before he's even picked up a fly rod! At the awards ceremony, held in Montana, USA, Federation chairman Gary Grant said the award was in “recognition of an individual who has gone way beyond the usual efforts to grow the sport on a international basis: it is one of the highest awards we can give – and richly deserved”. With a long and distinguished history he has variously been during his career, a member of the England team winning Gold and Bronze at the Commonwealth Games, Angling Director for the Countryside Alliance, consultant to Hardy and Greys Ltd, President of the APGAI, International Director for the federation of Fly Fishers, board member of the Anglers Conservation Association and he is also an accomplished and much in demand instructor. |
