Please write a short profile about yourself - Technical Manager at Fulling Mill for last 13 years responsible for quality, new patterns, materials etc. Self taught Fly tyer starting at 18 as it seemed a natural progression from fly fishing and I couldn't afford all the flies I wanted. Spend my time now ensuring our tyers understand the methods required to tie our complete range.
My favourite fly fishing pattern. - Too many to list but a decent Munro Killer has caught me a great many salmon and is a personal favourite.
What other patterns and styles of flyfishing do you enjoy most. - Nymph & Dry fly on the reservoirs or pulled wets on the great Irtish Loughs. Dry fly on the rivers. Olive Parachute Emerger, Bobs Bits in various colours for the reservoirs and F Flies and a Tan Klinkhammer for the rivers.
Is there a style of flytying you enjoy more than others! - No, but I am a fishing fly tyer not a model maker.
What is your most memorable flyfishing moment? - Catching a 23lb Springer on the Scottish Dee.
What is your most favoured piece of flyfishing equipment? - My 15ft Hardy Ultralight Salmon rod.
What type of flyfishing rod and reel do you use? - Hardy Ultralight for salmon with Orvis CFO reel. Loomis trout rods with Hardy, BFR & Orvis fly reels.
What type of flytying will you be tying at the show and are there any specific tying techniques you will be demonstrating at the show. - To be decided but probably patterns people can go and try at home.
What is your favourite piece of flytying equipment? - My Lawrance Waldron vice
Many thanks Ian and we look forward to seeing you at the show.
