Johan Klingberg - Sweden. Soft Hackled Fishing Flies.
I have always been fascinated about soft hackled fishing flies. These flies have attracted fish for many generations and continue to do so. The name “Soft hackles” refers to such patterns as; Flymphs, CDC flies, Spent Spinners, and of coarse North Country Spiders. At the class we will mainly tie Flymphs and CDC dries. These patterns are stunning to look at but more importantly, fantastic fishing patterns. We will also tie some Skaters and Spent Spinners as well.
During the class we will work together using different techniques to make these great CDC patterns. You will also learn how to apply these techniques to your own and everyday types of CDC patterns for either rivers or still water. What I think is most fascinating with the Flymphs is that you can present it booth on the top, in and under the surface. It is an “all round” pattern. I often keep it on the leader during a whole day, but present it in a different way depending on what the circumstances dictate. We will learn how to make proper Flymph bodies made with spinning block, silk and fur, and how to chose the right soft hackle.
Please bring your basic flytying materials, flytying tools, vice and lamp, as I will supply products for tying the patterns during the class.
I look forward to seeing you at the show, Best regards, Johan.

Alan Bithell - England. Handling Hackle & Dealing with Dubbing.
Have you ever given up on fly saying.... I can’t stop this hackle from twisting ! And ....This dubbing won’t stick to the thread ! These basic principals of fly tying often cause the most problems.
You will not master dubbing and hackles in a couple of hours but you will get all the tips and tricks, which if you practice them when tying at home, will leave you wondering why you ever struggled at all. Bring your vice, bobbin holder & thread (8/0 is ideal), scissors, dubbing needle and any hackles and dubbing you find you have difficulty with.
