  • The Spring Flyfishing Show -> Flytyer profile - David Gourong.

David Gourong - Click on fly images for a closer look !

Please write a short profile about yourself - I'm a Frenchman living in Norway. I started flyfishing 6 years ago and flytying about the same time. And now I'm so happy to do that for a living.

  • My favourite fly fishing pattern. - My favourite flies are designed for fly fishing for sea trout in the sea. The first one is my BA-rstemark, a (ragworm) pattern and the second is my Black Zonker.

What other patterns and styles of flyfishing do you enjoy most. - Pike flies, tube flies and Spey and Dee flies...and off course fishing for both of them..

Is there a style of flytying you enjoy more than others! - I'm simply CRAAAAAAZY about Classic Salmon flies.

What is your most memorable flyfishing moment? - My first sea trout...in the sea on a 5 weight rod...3,7 kg... I'm not joking, I have a picture of it ! The other one is my first Salmon, after 1 whole week of casting.

What is your most favoured piece of flyfishing equipment? - My flies.

What type of flyfishing rod and reel do you use? - 7/8/9 weight 9ft, Sage, StCroix and Redington for my singlehanded. 9/10 weight 13/14ft Redigton for my doublehanded. Loop and BFR.

What type of flytying will you be tying at the show and are there any specific tying techniques you will be demonstrating at the show. - Sea trout patterns for saltwater. Templedog/fox hair flies and if I'm lucky with the time...some of my own Dee and Spey flies.

What is your favourite piece of flytying equipment? - My fingers, thanks god that I have all off them !

Many thanks Gourong and we look forward to seeing you at the show.
